I'll admit, I don't know much about the finer things in life except for Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. And the Matrix. And Michael Moorcock. And Dragons. And Star Wars. And D&D. So when I found this "Duragold" thing I was like "Is this some sort of fake gold?" and found out it is and it isn't.
It also turned out I had no idea what karats are. Turns out it means that when you mix other metals with gold, it makes them less "gold"-like and karats are the measurement. 24k is pure gold. 18k is 75% gold. 14k is 54% gold. 10k is 47.7% gold. Anything less than that is not considered gold, by US official legal standards. Who knew? I wonder if there's a market for Almost Gold?
According to the reviews, this necklace seems light and fragile but there are some who say it's durable enough for daily wear. Then there's some who apparently can't go through life without breaking nice things and they say it's like having a gold plated paper bag around their neck that will break in a stiff breeze. Ok, I might be paraphrasing that.
But for the price it seems like this mini-Death Star (finer things, people. Finer. Things.) on a rope is a good investment for someone looking for a nice daily noose, er, necklace around their neck. I wonder if you can etch an actual Death Star pattern onto DuraGold? Must....research...
